what are we investigating?
PIER ONE is investigating the potential systemic failures surrounding the removal and placement of Queensland children in care of the Department of Child Safety. Our investigations focus on the systems underpinning the Queensland Child Protection framework, including the operational delivery of child safety services throughout Queensland. A core focus surrounds the effective management of risk associated with removing and transitioning children in care and opportunities for improvement.

Our team has significant experience in child protection investigations, including with the Child Protection and investigation Units of the Queensland Police Service and Qld Police Prosecutions. We understand the complexities and stressors of the child safety system on the front line and where opportunity exists for improvement, our team is committed to supporting the community in achieving the highest standard of child protection and safety for our Queensland children.
